Upcoming iFLY SuperGirl

Upcoming iFLY SuperGirl

By Jessica Dunn

The two new iFLY Chicago locations opened during the summer of 2014.

My dad, who is a skydiver, & I decided to check out the new Naperville tunnel location on July 12th.  I was a first-time flyer at iFLY and took the first time flyer course including a high flight.  It was SO MUCH FUN and I’ve been hooked ever since!

Within a few months of going, the iFLY Kids Club was organized by customer service representative, Santiago, and my dad signed me up!

Kids Club started with a group of kids that had only flown once before.  With the coaching of Dave, Jake, Syd, and many others, we all started out learning to fly stable on our belly and progressed from there.  During the weekly Kids Club I’ve met many new friends.

I also started going back with my dad on other days and have gotten to know most all of the instructors.  Everyone has always been very welcoming, funny and of course helpful!  My flying skills really started to improve fast.

When the Kids Club had their first ever competition, I had to choose between my band concert and flying.  It was a difficult choice but I chose to fly.  The competition was a belly flying speed round.  I took 3rd place, received a bronze IBA medal and was so excited!  I also received 3rd place in my second competition at iFLY.

With the coaching of the many great instructors, I have come a long way.  My first try at sit flying, I was coached by world champion Rook Nelson, owner of Skydive Chicago!  I’ve also been flying 2-way with other kids and have recently started flying together with my dad (I sit fly while he belly flies!).  While at the tunnel with my dad, I have also been able to fly with the Adult League.  I have now completed all of levels 1-3.  I am looking forward to my next Kid’s Club competition and other competitions to come this summer.

Thank you to all of my great instructors and everyone who has supported me in flying!!!

The IBA distinguishes between the sport of indoor skydiving (engaged in by patrons with IBA accounts seeking approval of flight skills though the IBA's Flight Progression System) and recreational flying (engaged in by entertainment customers who do not intend to pursue approval of skills). While indoor skydiving is safe for all ages, the inherent risk of the activity is necessarily greater for those engaging in the sport of indoor skydiving, particularly as they progress through more sophisticated maneuvers.
