The Airkix facility adjoining Xscape which provides a unique combination of other extreme sports.
Airkix, in the United Kingdom, Milton-Keynes area, conducted a Flight Instructor Training Program and Instructor Development Program, October 10th – November 3rd. The FITP was small, consisting of only two trainees and unfortunately one of the trainees was injured in a non-tunnel related incident and was unable to continue. These trainees had gone through extensive pre-training and are highly accomplished tunnel flyers as well, which allowed them to complete the course in three weeks.

The IDP portion of the training was designed to advance UKMK's entire staff, while primarily focusing on two of their more experienced instructors. Kurmet and Frazer made rapid progress, completing their Flyer Pro, I3 and T2 ratings. The rest of the staff made considerable gains also each earned their numerous flyer ratings and two to fourteen instructor checkboxes.
The training was conducted by Rusty Lewis who was able to take some time out of his busy schedule at SkyVenture Colorado, and Joe Winters one of the founders of the IBA and co-developer of the IBA’s courses and ratings.
Next in our sites is to get Kurmet and Frazer to I4 and T3, this will allow them to do a lot of in-house training for the rest of the staff. Training dates haven’t been set, but the plan calls for regular visits to get Airkix self-sufficient.
