The SkyVenture tunnel in Eloy, Arizona

SkyVenture Arizona held a Flight Instructor Training Program. In preparation for a busy season, SVAZ trained three new staff instructors before the start of the U.S. National Skydiving Championships. Also in the class was an instructor trainee from SkyVenture Silicon Valley, Billy Shawman. Billy did such a great job in the course SkyVenture Arizona invited him to stay on support their facility, which also allows Billy to gain valuable experience as a tunnel instructor.

The course was the first conducted by Ray Kubiak; Ray will be working with and under the supervision of IBA Examiners Michael Biederman, Rusty Lewis and Carlos Euribe. Davy Manning "shadowed" the course. Shadowing is one of the steps for an up-and-coming trainer to complete in order to receive their course conductor rating. After shadowing a trainer must "assist" in conducting a course and then finally "lead" as course conductor, while under the supervision of an IBA Examiner.
